It has been 40 years since M&S first began selling

It has been 40 years since M&S first began selling Beatrix Potter merchandise and the M&S Archive is celebrating with a special opportunity to view the collection. This is a rare opportunity to see M&S merchandise featuring the famous illustrations that helped to make Peter Rabbit and his friends such enduring favourites.

The collection will be available to view in the M&S Archive Reading Room from Monday 3 June to Friday 7 June, from 10am to 4pm, no appointment needed.

In April of 1880, an Art Student’s Certificate of the Science and Art Department of the South Kensington Museum (now the Victoria and Albert Museum), was awarded to Beatrix Potter for model drawing and freehand. ‘Excellent’ marks in both. Beatrix Potter was only 13 years old!
